Den Leader

Role:
Guide a small group of Scouts (usually by grade level) through their adventures.

Description:
Den Leaders meet with their den 1-4 times per month, helping Scouts complete adventures through hands-on activities. You don’t need to be an expert—just organized, enthusiastic, and willing to follow the provided program. You’ll form meaningful bonds with families in your den.

Assistant Den Leader

Role:
Help the Den Leader plan and run den meetings.

Description:
Great for someone who wants to help without leading every meeting. You’ll assist with planning, support your Den Leader, and step in when they’re unavailable.

Cubmaster

Role:
Lead Pack meetings and guide overall Pack direction.

Description:
The Cubmaster brings energy, fun, and structure to monthly Pack meetings. They support Den Leaders, lead ceremonies, and ensure the program delivers fun and growth for all Scouts. It’s a great role for someone who doesn’t mind public speaking, planning events, and seeing kids thrive.

Assistant Cubmaster

Role:
Support the Cubmaster and fill in as needed.

Description:
This role is perfect for someone who wants to help lead but isn’t ready to take center stage. You’ll help run meetings, lead activities, and get to know Scouts and parents across all dens.

Committee Chair
Role:
Lead the Pack’s adult committee.
Description:
The Committee Chair organizes adult leadership, runs committee meetings, and supports leaders across the Pack. Great for a parent with leadership skills who wants to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.

Recruitment Chair

Role:
The Recruitment Chair leads the Pack’s efforts to grow membership by planning and coordinating outreach events, managing leads, and welcoming new families.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Recruitment Events
    Plan and lead events like School Scout Talks, Join Nights, community booth events, and flyers/poster distribution.
  • Coordinate with Schools and Community Partners
    Work with school staff, PTOs, and community organizations to schedule outreach opportunities.
  • Manage Leads
    Respond promptly to inquiries from BeAScout.org, signup sheets, and emails. Help families understand the program and how to join.
  • Promote Pack Activities
    Help communicate the value of Cub Scouting through calendar handouts, social media, and email follow-ups.

Recruitment Team

Role:
Support the Recruitment Chair in outreach and welcoming new families.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Scout Talks, Join Nights, and welcome tables at events
  • Help distribute flyers and post promotional materials
  • Share Pack events on social media and in community groups
  • Provide input and support during recruiting season

New Member Coordinator

Role:
The New Member Coordinator is the friendly face of the Pack, focused on welcoming new families and helping them feel informed and connected.

Responsibilities:

  • Welcome New Families
    Greet new families at events and follow up after they express interest.
  • Guide
    Help families understand dues, uniforms, and meeting expectations.
  • Connect Families to Their Dens
    Introduce new members to their Den Leaders and share info about upcoming meetings and Pack events.
  • Stay in Touch
    Maintain contact with new families during their first few months to answer questions and encourage participation.

Membership Chair

Role:
The Membership Chair ensures all youth and adult leaders are properly registered and rechartered each year, maintaining accurate and up-to-date Pack membership records.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Registrations
    Track new youth and adult registrations and ensure proper paperwork is completed (especially for leaders requiring background checks and training).
  • Manage Recharter Process
    Lead the annual recharter process in the fall, coordinating with Den Leaders to confirm returning members and collecting fees as needed.
  • Maintain Roster Accuracy
    Regularly verify Scoutbook and official rosters match actual Pack participation.
  • Coordinate with Council
    Work with the Bay Area Council registrar to resolve registration issues and confirm all members are current.
  • Support New Member Coordinator
    Ensure newly registered Scouts and leaders are added to Scoutbook and connected to the correct den.

Membership Team

Role:
Assist the Membership Chair in keeping membership records current and helping families through registration and recharter.

Responsibilities:

  • Help collect forms and fees during recruiting and recharter season
  • Follow up with families who haven’t completed registration or training
  • Support communication between Den Leaders and the Membership Chair
  • Assist with data entry and roster checks in Scoutbook and other systems

Advancement Chair

Role:
The Advancement Chair plays an important behind-the-scenes role ensuring Scouts are recognized for their achievements each month.

Responsibilities:

  • Purchase Awards
    Use the automatically generated purchase list in Scoutbook to buy awards from the Galveston Scout Shop.
  • Deliver Awards
    Sort and deliver the awards to the Cubmaster (or a designated proxy) a few days before each monthly Pack Meeting.
  • Request Reimbursement
    Submit receipts to the Pack Treasurer for reimbursement after each purchase.

Pack Committee Member

Role:
Provide oversight, help plan events, and support the Pack.

Description:
This flexible role helps share the load by offering input on decisions, assisting with logistics, or taking on smaller tasks. A great entry point for those who want to stay involved but aren’t sure how yet.

Description:
Want to help but can’t commit year-round? Event Chairs take on one event—like, Pinewood Derby, Blue & Gold Banquet, or a Pack Picnic—coordinating logistics, volunteers, and supplies. Perfect for creative planners who enjoy seeing an event come to life.
