The Cub Scout uniform helps build pride, unity, and a sense of belonging. It also signals a Scout’s achievements and progress. Below is an overview of what your Scout needs—and what’s optional—for their uniform.
👕 Recommended Uniform Items
Shirt:
- Lions: Official blue Lion t-shirt or Official blue Cub Scout shirt (den decision)
- Tigers, Wolves, Bears:, Webelos Official blue Cub Scout shirt
- Arrow of Light: Official tan Cub Scout shirt
Insignia/Patches:
- World Crest emblem (above the left pocket)
- Bay Area Council shoulder patch
- Pack numerals: 554
- optional: Den number patch (check with your Den Leader)
- Rank badge (left pocket)
- U.S. flag (usually pre-sewn)
Your Scout’s Den Leader can help you with patch placement and what’s needed for their current rank.
🎽 Pack 554 Items (Recommended or Provided)
Pack 554 has several custom uniform items available to help keep scouting affordable and fun:
- Pack Activity Shirt – A custom Pack 554 t-shirt. Great for campouts, field trips, and hot weather. Worn when Class A is not required.
- Pack Neckerchief – An affordable alternative to buying a new rank neckerchief every year. Can be worn by any Scout in the Pack.
- Pack Slide – An affordable alternative to buying a new rank slide every year. Can be worn by any Scout in the Pack.
- Pack Cap – A Pack 554-specific ball cap. Optional but fun!
These are usually available for purchase at Pack meetings.
🎒 Optional Uniform Accessories
These are not required but can be useful and help complete the look:
- Neckerchiefs: Each rank has a designated color neckerchief. Families may use the official rank version or the Pack 554 neckerchief.
- Slide: Used to secure the neckerchief; official slides or DIY options are fine.
- Cap: Each rank has an official cap; the Pack cap is also a great option.
- Bottoms: Official Scout pants, shorts, or skorts are recommended, but any plain navy or khaki bottoms are acceptable.
- Belt: Official Cub Scout belt helps with wearing adventure loops (earned by younger Scouts).
- Socks: Official Cub Scout socks are available in youth and adult sizes but not required.
